Communication departments around the country are growing in size as more people realize that many employers value communication skills over everything else.
Our department offers five majors to meet the growing needs of students and employers, and this section of our website is where you'll find information and links relevant to all majors, such as information about departmental scholarships and student clubs. You'll also find information for prospective students, as well as our answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
Use the Academics tab above to find information about departmental requirements (including advising and portfolios), descriptions of our majors, as well as details about our honors program, internships and many study abroad opportunities.
Better yet, stop by and visit with faculty and staff in the department! We're all for technology, but sometimes you can't beat face-to-face interaction. We pride ourselves on being here for our students, so if we aren't teaching you'll usually find us in our offices.
Admission to the Department
The Department of Communication seeks to admit students who are dedicated to pursuing a degree that prepares them for the varied fields of communication.
Students may declare a major in Advertising, Communication Studies, Journalism or Public Relations as soon as they meet the university's requirements for declaring a major. Students who wish to declare a major in Electronic Media/Broadcasting must apply for admission to the major.
For more information about becoming a major in our department, please check the Requirements page under the Academics tab above.
