Program Dates: May 17-June 14, 2026
This program will provide students with hands-on experience in documentary filmmaking while exploring key concepts in intercultural communication. Students will learn how to research, film, and edit short documentaries that reflect cultural perspectives and communication practices encountered during the program. The program emphasizes both the technical aspects of visual storytelling and the theoretical frameworks of cross-cultural exchange.
While the program is primarily based at Masaryk University in Brno, Czechia, students will also travel to Budapest to see the famous parliament building, Vienna, where they will visit the UN headquarters, Krakow, to tour Auschwitz, and finally Prague, where they will meet with journalists at Radio Free Europe. These excursions provide opportunities to engage with history, culture, and international communication in context.
This is a unique opportunity for students to strengthen their communication skills, develop creative projects, and gain a global perspective through film. All majors/students with film production backgrounds/experience are welcome to participate.
Program Cost: $5,730*
