Second Story Media Launches Partnership with New Client

BOONE, N.C. (November 8, 2019) — Second Story Media, Appalachian State’s new student-run communication agency, is partnering with the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation to provide pro bono communication materials.

The partnership will fulfill two main goals of the foundation: to raise $30,000 from sponsors and donors for their annual 5K in 2020 and to connect those diagnosed with breast cancer with monetary and other supportive care resources. Second Story Media students will gain hands-on experience in their respective fields while helping breast cancer patients in their community.

Second Story Media will create social media content, electronic communications, advertisements and other communication pieces to promote the foundation. Students will design, run, and evaluate a campaign for the foundation’s fourth annual 5K High Country Walk/Run for Breast Cancer 2020 event. The campaign will include an overall theme, event planning, advertisements, print marketing materials and designs for products such as t-shirts, posters and more.

“We believe in the mission of the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation to provide for the needs of survivors, patients and families in our area,” said Second Story Media president Olivia Bouzigard. “We believe a foundation like this one is impacting lives of individuals in our community.”

Irene Sawyer, founder of the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation, personally funds all of the organization’s promotional materials, from print advertising to t-shirts, so that 100% of all monetary gifts from donors to the organization can go directly to sponsoring patients with the services the foundation offers. This partnership will be mutually beneficial for both organizations.
