All About Public Relations!

Let's talk Public Relations! See below for a quick profile on one of our current student's take on her major.

Molly Hodes is a second semester senior majoring in Communications, Public Relations and minoring in marketing and nonprofit management here at Appalachian State University. She has just accepted an amazing job opportunity with TTI, Inc. in their Leadership Development Program as a field representative. In this position, she will be working in three Home Depot locations and market Milwaukee and Ryobi tools and products. Her future goals are to work towards management, a brand marketer, or recruiting manager in the company.

Molly says that the Communication Department has helped prepare her for her future career by giving her an abundance of confidence in her writing as well as teaching her the importance of communication between people and organizations. A few of her favorite things she learned was how to write press releases and about the real life importance of how to effectively communicate, especially between a company and their consumers in order for them to keep a good following.

"My favorite class that I've taken was by far Dr. Perreault's Public Relations writing class," said Hodes. "I thought it was incredibly challenging, it taught me to be a better writer, and pushed me to go out of my comfort zone in my writing abilities."
